As a growing business, these strategies will help you sell everyday
We could have access to something to an extent that we may likely lose out on the value. Not really knowing how that acquisition may be a great tool for us. The same feeling may come to play when you see this caption. And the question might be “WhatsApp?!” “How can I use just WhatsApp alone to increase my sales?” And this how is what you would find out soon.
This WhatsApp status trick I am about to share with you can help you sell anything from basic skills to regular goods or services. Especially as a small and medium business.
I know it can work once you follow what I am sharing carefully and spice it up with your own creativity. As it has worked for me and everyone I know that had applied it.
Let me as this question:
What is WhatsApp?
WhatsApp is a multi-platform messaging app for messaging, calls (voice and audio), and sharing documents and other types of multimedia once connected to the internet.
WhatsApp has over 2 billion users globally. And this number of users is very understandable because it’s simple to use and a free application on our mobile devices.
In most parts of the world, WhatsApp turns out as a big part of life.
WhatsApp is a free application that has simple easy steps to sign up just with your mobile number.
It is important to note that there are officially two types of WhatsApp messaging apps — WhatsApp Messenger and WhatsApp Business.
There are many automated responses and features that make WhatsApp a good tool for small businesses. What makes it different from the regular WhatsApp Messenger is the few business tools in it, like business profiles, labels, and messaging tools. However, we would look out for how we can use the WhatsApp Business Status feature to make sales every and any other day.
Using WhatsApp Business for your business needs does not mean an endorsement from WhatsApp. It is for a personal purpose.
What is WhatsApp Business Status?
The WhatsApp status section is where WhatsApp users can post their updates on their daily activities or anything that interests them. WhatsApp status is meant to stay for 24 hours.
People visiting your business profile on WhatsApp can tap on your profile picture. They would have the option of either viewing your profile picture or viewing your status. Or they would see your status notification on the ‘status’ section of WhatsApp.
Before your WhatsApp status marketing will work out fine, you would have to first understand your contact. Are they more of young people, middle-aged or old people? You would also have to understand their financial capacity and the gender which views most.
Conducting this research would help you understand better what they would buy, what they can afford, and above all the things that would appeal to the age and gender demography which their contacts are more on your phone.
Note: You can only view the status of those that you have their contacts saved on your phone and they have yours saved as well. You both can view each other’s status because you have your numbers saved on your WhatsApp phones.
Why WhatsApp Status?
There are limited people with whom you can chat during a particular period. So, reaching out with just your chat alone won’t be effective for your business goals. But with your status, you can reach out to many people, especially those with who you do not chat often or you have never chatted at all in the first place, but they would likely have the need for your product/service.
Your status could be a short video, image, or text uploaded in reels.
The good thing with WhatsApp status is that people use it for relaxation and engagement, and while they are doing so, you can leverage it to push yourself or your products before them for free.
Your WhatsApp status is a good free marketing tool because it is your potential customer who went for it. You didn’t force it on them.
So they will reach out to you once they see something appealing to them and they feel they can afford it.
How to post on your status strategically for the best conversions
There has been something I can call the ‘bad posting approach’, which I have seen people do repeatedly when it comes to posting on their WhatsApp status. Even those who are posting to market their products.
I will tell you a few things you shouldn’t do as a business or product promoter on your WhatsApp Business status.
1. Do not post too many status reels at a time. It will not look nice and would turn people like me off to opening your status. Besides, your reel isn’t the only status they came to view. So if yours will waste their time, they would skip to the next. Which isn’t good for your business.
2. You don’t have to use your status to always market directly always (I will tell you what to do later).
3. Avoid using your status for derogatory, defaming, or insulting a category of people. It doesn’t portray the right image for your business.
I have mentioned some things you shouldn’t do with your WhatsApp status. Now let me mention.
1. Post your hot selling product/service on your first reel or the most attention-grabbing post first. Knowing that the number of your viewers drops as your reels increase. And the reason you are doing this is to get their attention as soon as you can. They are not there to view your status alone.
2. Post at intervals. If your target is to post 10 images a day (besides, 10 images a day for me is not a good practice), do not share all at a time. Post them at intervals. This will allow your status to always remain in the top 6 status display that your potential customers will have to see when they go to their status section. And the posts that appear before your target customers win first place in their hearts. That is what you are trying to achieve.
3. Post when people are likely to view your status. From personal research, I realized people view my status early in the morning (between 5 a.m to 7 a.m) and later in the evening (between 7 p.m to 9 p.m).
That is not to neglect the afternoons. These are likely things afternoon posts can do for you. One of such is to keep your status atop and also not compete with the many people who are posting in the morning and night, therefore dropping the position of your status at their end.
Content schedule for your status
You should have a status content plan before you share your posts. You don’t just want to make a post because you have to. But you intend to make an influence with your post.
How can you make this happen? It is not just with random posts. You have to structure your status in a manner that it has to attract, engage, and convert.
I can share a template of a content calendar structure that I use:
Mondays — Inspirational posts (with my business brand in it)
Tuesday s— Educational posts (Educate us on what you sell or its history)
Wednesdays — Sales (with an offer, within your business capacity)
Thursday s— Testimonials
Friday s— Weekend Sale/Religious posts (for Muslim clients)
Saturdays — Freestyle/Hangouts
Sunday s— Freestyle/Religious post (for Christian clients)
Tag your posts well with brief descriptions and attach a call to action when need be. Do just post pictures or videos without telling your customers/clients what you want them to do.
Other status hacks
Ask your community to share your products on their various status. Set it like a challenge and do a giveaway for the top 3 or more people who have the highest views.
Also share their reviews on your status. People will believe in your brand more and would actually be on the lookout for your status.
Also, from time to time, make a status that would allow you to get responses from your viewers. Ask them what they like most about your status. This will help you discover the type of posts that resonate well with your audience.
Status image/Video
Whether you choose to post a video or your product image, the picture should be clear and precise. Avoid getting too many details of the background which are unnecessary to your product.
However, you could snap your product with complementary products. Maybe you are selling a male shoe, for instance, you could snap the shoe with a belt and maybe a wallet.
In a product image, a white background does well in projecting your product. Your image should be void of noise (unnecessary background set-up).
The same thing should apply when you doing video coverage, capture your shots from the best angles.
Your best approach could be to look for product review videos on YouTube to get a glimpse of how it is done.
Conclusion
Like all social media platforms, your status gains the traction it needs when you post consistently. It would earn you a craving audience, whether or not they resonate with your post. They would just know you would be there when they are on the lookout.
More so, even if they do not patronize you directly, you are creating an impression with them, and they may likely refer people to you, having seen you as an authority in your business.
